Burns among four U18 returnees

In keeping with the theme of new-look underage interprovincial squads, just four players return for another crack at the U18 boys grade, after coach Ivan Coombes named his Munster squad earlier this week.

Ireland U18 forward Nick Burns is the squad’s best-known name, and he along with Catholic Institute goalkeeper Dylan Murphy and C of I pair David Wolfe and Greg Chambers return from last year’s side. However, a number of talented players are making the step up from U16 level, chief among them Ireland U16 pair Scott Sullivan and Richard Lynch, along with Colton brothers Adam and Andrew. Limerick hotshot Nathan Eacrett is another who has interprovincial experience, having been part of the Munster U16 setup last term, as were C of I trio David Treacy, Simon Wolfe and Stuart Miller. Amazingly, 12 of the 18-strong squad play their club hockey for Cork Church of Ireland – although Chambers only recently made the move from Ashton. The U18 boys interpro tournament takes place from November 19-21 at Newpark School, Blackrock, Dublin.
