Catholic Institute roared back into Munster title contention as two stunning goals helped them see off UCC 2-0 at Rosbrien on Saturday.
In a game that Insta coach Ger O’Carroll admitted had “nothing between the sides”, a goalless first half saw both experience periods of dominance but Christine O’Shea’s inch-perfect sliding deflection put the hosts in front in the second half.
Clodagh Moloney then played in Irish international forward Naomi Carroll to roof a spectacular effort past Sarah Wrixon and keep Insta – who had lost the return fixture 2-1 in Cork – in the title race.
While those two battled it out, Cork Harlequins surged to the top of the table by taking full points from their double-header against Cork C of I and Bandon.
