Three Rock Rovers have become the first Irish club to advance to the second round of the EuroHockey League after Belgian champions KHC Leuven sensationally dumped pre-tournament favourites Atletic Terassa out of the championship yesterday.
A series of permuatations accompanied yesterday’s game after Rovers drew with both sides earlier in the weekend, but they knew a win for either side would see them progress in second place, and Leuven duly obliged with a 3-1 victory.
