The Irish Hockey Association is conducting an internal review following an incident at the Youth Olympic Games in Singapore concerning an Irish representative gaining access to a video tower without accreditation.
The incident led to the suspension of Richard Malone and Una McCarthy for the fifth and sixth place playoff between Ireland’s U17 girls and South Africa on August 22.
As outlined in the FIH’s official report, the case has also been referred to the the FIH Hon. Secretary General for further consideration by the body’s judicial commission.
The IHA confirmed to Southern Fried earlier today that the situation is currently being reviewed internally with the parties involved, as part of a normal major tournament debrief.
The body said it hopes to release a statement next week on the matter, but will not be commenting further on the situation until the review process has been completed.
In a statement to the Hook from the IHA, they confirmed “The Irish Hockey Association are reviewing the situation internally with the parties involved. Until the process has been completed we cannot make a comment on the situation”.
The IHA review is likely to take place next week with a statement on the matter to be released once complete.

It would appear from reading the report that there were serious failings on the management side, and an attempt made to deflect blame!
greatest lot of crap. who cares, having been and seen what has happened at these tournaments this is just a storm in a tea cup. it is only the small countries who get this hassle.
