Lisa Barrett’s strike proved the sole divider in two hours of tense hockey as Crescent College Comprehensive advanced to the final of the Munster Senior Schoolgirls Cup final today. Centre-forward Barrett struck inside the opening 10 minutes to give her side a 1-0 win over Ursuline Convent Thurles at the Limerick school, a replayed semi-final after the first clash in Co Tipperary had ended in a scoreless stalemate. It keeps alive a three-in-a-row dream for Crescent, who defeated Cork City’s Mount Mercy in the last two deciders but will this time face Bandon Grammar next Wednesday, February 29 at a Limerick venue to be confirmed. There was a further boost for Crescent as skipper and Ireland U18 star Róisin Upton — who has missed most of the season with a fractured foot — came through the game unscathed.
