Ashton emphatically eased any lingering fears of being sucked into a battle at the wrong end of the table as a second consecutive victory showed off their firepower.
Mary-Claire Cummins, Caroline McCarthy and Emma Harrington all scored twice to highlight the range of their goalscoring potential as they moved up to fourth place ahead of a long break that sees them without a league fixture until December 1.

Champions Institute continued their surge towards the Division One summit but were given a thorough workout by an ever-improving C of I at Rosbrien.
Katie Campbell and Naomi Carroll’s first-half goals gave Insta a controlling platform, but that they didn’t go own to dish out a trademark hiding says a lot for C of I’s improved organisation and resolution.
Eimear Cregan did finish the job in the second period as Insta moved up to a share of second with Cork Harlequins. Both sides are three points behind UCC with a game in hand, as all three teams have 100% records thus far.
Bandon 2 (Claire O’Higgins, Laura Buttimer) Limerick 2 (Lorraine McGowan, Gillian Quigley)
Limerick and Bandon played out an entertaining 2-2 draw in west Cork that boosts both sides as it cuts UL and Fermoy adrift at the bottom as the only two sides yet to pick up a point.
A returning Claire O’Higgins and Munster U16 Laura Buttimer cancelled out strikes by Lorraine McGowan the profilic Gillian Quigley for John Meyler’s Limerick.
It stops the rot for Limerick, whose season had come off the rails somewhat after a promising start, and suggests that Bandon are beginning to gel too as their results improve with each outing.

Fermoy 2 (Trish Fitzpatrick 2) Ashton 5 (Mary-Claire Cummins 2, Karen Stokes 2, Emma Harrington)
Ashton ensured it was back-to-back wins in north Cork as they came out on top in Sunday’s MSC clash, but the hosts had clearly learned some lessons as they kept the game scoreless at half-time.
Mary-Claire Cummins struck another brace, as did Karen Stokes, with Harrington rounding off the win although Trish Fitzpatrick did blast two short corner bullets for Fermoy.
Ashton now go to Institute in the quarter-finals next month with UCC hosting Bandon, Limerick travelling to Quins and UL meeting Cork C of I in Garryduff, all on December 15.
