Insta are minus a lot of key performers through injury, retirement and travel this year but a hat-trick from Irish international Naomi Carroll was the highlight of an easy victory at Rosbrien. Both sides had the bare 11 due to a number of absentees; Peter Daunt, Jack O’Mahony and Ben O’Mahony all impressed for the seconds while Simon Wolfe scored a beautiful reverse-stick shot to open the floodgates for the firsts, Sweetnam tapping in for 2-0 before half-time. Jermyn missed a stroke but made amends with his drag, while Gray went high for his. Philip Sweetnam’s solo effort – beating two at close quarters in the circle before bashing home to the corner – precluded a quickfire hat-trick for Stephen Sweetnam, getting on the end of some nice passing moves.
