Ireland’s drag-flickers found their groove to ensure it’s two wins out of two at the Athlon FIH Road to London Olympic qualifier in Beerschot, Belgium after a 3-0 win over Russia yesterday.
Birthday girl Michelle Harvey gave the Irish a first-half lead before Cork’s Audrey O’Flynn powered home the second just before half-time from another short corner.
Her former UCC and current Hermes club team-mate Aine Connery celebrated her 50th cap in green but it was O’Flynn who was celebrating again eight minutes into the second half when she powered a dra-flick to the top right corner.
Gene Muller’s side now have a rest day today before clashing with another relative minnow, Mexico, on Tuesday, with the coach again satisfied with his side’s performance.
