More to do despite Welsh wins, insists Revington

Ireland senior men’s coach Paul Revington insists his side have much work to do ahead of August’s Europeans, despite seeing his side convincingly claim the Glendwyr Cup with two victories over Wales in Wrexham at the weekend. Timmy Cockram’s sole penalty corner strike gave Paul Revington’s side a scrappy 1-0 win in abject conditions on Saturday, but Ireland were far more convincing with a 3-1 victory yesterday. John Jermyn and Stephen Butler rifled home first-half penalty corners before David Hobbs finished off a virtuoso solo effort with a neat reverse-stick finish on 53 minues. Rick Gay claimed a consolation from the penalty spot for the hosts. However, Revington struck a cautionary note afterwards: “This was an improved performance from the team in terms of possession, penetration and defensive pressure, (but) the team has still a bit to go to turn today’s possession and penetration into more goal scoring opportunities.”
