Pegasus turned the spotlight back on Loreto in the Irish Hockey League, but left it late to claim a 3-2 win over Randalstown at Banbridge tonight.
The onus is now on the Dubliners to get a result at Cork C of I on Saturday to maintain their buffer at the summit of the Pool A, after this win put Pegasus level with them on seven points.
A Nadine Brown short corner strike had them leading at the break, an advantage doubled in the 56th minute when Alex Speers deflected home Arlene Boyles’ drag.
But Randalstown rocked the hosts by drawing level with two goals inside four minutes, with Laura McAlpine wriggling free on the left before slotting home, followed by Sharon Graham’s deflection of Rebecca Dallas’ drag.
But Kirsty McCollum made the hosts pay in the dying minutes with clever use of the auto-pass rule, taking a quick free on the edge of the circle and catching the visitors’ defence off guard before firing home the winner.
